I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word. -Psalm 119:16
Here, the psalmist promises to delight in God’s Word. He pledges, also, to not ignore it. This is a noble promise. It is one which every child of God should make, but even if he/she does not verbally articulate it, there is still an obligation to fulfill it.
Whenever I ignore or fail to delight in God’s Word, whether consciously or unconsciously, I break God’s Law.
Even the slightest disregard for God’s Word is a crime deserving of death. If God were not merciful to His own, I would have been vaporized or burned up a long time. I daily break the command to consider and delight in God’s Word every day of my life. Yet, God does not forsake me. Such kindness and love deserve my utmost effort to please Him.
