Friday Finds

Last Friday, the International Literacy Training Institute ended. The day was full of celebration, hence no post was made. There are pictures from the 5-week course on Flickr.

My former piano teacher and his son, who form the group Ryan and Ryan, create some very entertaining videos.

I am currently reading God’s Lesser Glory by Bruce Ware in preparation for an upcoming class, and when I heard this song, it seemed to go right along with the book!

Have you ever asked God for something and realized His answer was not what you expected?

Choosing Gratitude 15

If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me. Psalm 50: 12-15

Do You Realize?

“Were you a likely candidate for salvation?  Yet didn’t God save you?  And while he may have used some human instrument, don’t you see that he would have saved you with or without any instrument?  And haven’t you seen other ‘impossible’ brothers and sisters delivered likewise by the incredible power of the invisible God?

Do you realize from whence you came?  You were in the grip of hell.  Demons had wrapped their chains about you.  The god of this world had blinded your understanding.  Yet God struck off your chains and the face of Christ illumined your soul.  The damned around you are no more damned than you were, their chains no thicker, their darkness no deeper.  Nor is the power of Christ to save them one whit less.”

John White, The Golden Cow (Downers Grove, 1979), pages 151-152.
